Federal Skilled Trades Program
This program is for professionals who are skilled and desire for permanent Canada immigration depending on having a skilled trade qualification. It is one of three federal immigration programs that the Express Entry system is in charge of. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is used by all Express Entry programs, is used by FST to rank interested applicants against one another and only invite the most competitive applicants to submit applications for Canadian permanent residency.
Eligibility for FSTP
To be eligible to apply, you must have:
- A province or territory-issued certificate of qualification in your skilled trade
- A job offer for full-time work for a minimum of one year
- Attain minimum proficiency in French or English
- Work experience of min of 24 months’ in a skilled trade that is admissible
Work Experience
Your job experience must be related to one of the following groups from the National Occupational Classification to get eligible for FST Program:
- Butchers and bakers
- Chefs and cooks
- Central control operators, utility supervisors, manufacturing, and processing
- Production related, agriculture, jobs in technical natural resources
- Maintenance and equipment operation trades
- Industrial, electrical and construction trades
Education
FST Program does not have a formal educational requirement. Nevertheless, there are ways you can raise your Express Entry pool ranking.
- You can get points for a diploma earned abroad if you have one, or
- You can earn points for a degree, diploma or a certificate, if received from high school, or post to that.
Language Ability
Should be –
- Completed approved language tests for writing, reading, listening, and speaking.
- Attained a minimum score of 5 for speaking and listening and 4 for reading and writing on the Canadian Language Benchmarks
- Updated your Express Entry profile with the test results.
- During the submission of permanent residency application, they must be current.
Proof of Funds
If you want to move to Canada with your family, you must prove that you have the necessary funds to do so.
- You have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada
- You are currently able to legally work in Canada
Admissibility
Some persons are not permitted to enter Canada. Under Canadian immigration rules, they are deemed "inadmissible." There are a variety of reasons why authorities can refuse to allow you into Canada, including
- Security,
- Criminal, or
- Medical issues
Normally, if you are not eligible to enter Canada, you won't be permitted to do so. Authorities may grant you a temporary residence visa if your trip to Canada is justified by a legitimate purpose and the situation.
Documents Required
Following are the documents required for the Federal Skilled Trades Program –
- Marital proof ( in spouse case)
- Fund verification for permanent settlement in Canada
- Clean police certificate
- Approved medical certificate from a verified practitioner
- Pension fund/employment contract as work experience proof.
- Proof of skilled job performance.
- Reference letter from the previous employer
- A valid offer letter from an employer in Canada/ confirmation letter
- Test results for the IELTS exam and the CELPIP
- Diploma, degrees, official transcripts
- Education certificate that is ECA-verified
- Fee payment slip
- The General Application Form for Immigration
- If a family member is moving too, their identification proof
- Your identification proof, like your passport
